NIWE’s International conference on Small Wind Turbine begins

Chennai, Dec 10: The National Institute of Wind Energy (NIWE) under the Ministry of New and Renewable energy (MNRE) organized a three-days International conference on Small Wind Turbine at Taj Gateway IT Express Hotel, Sholinganallur, Chennai.

Bhanu Pratap Yadav IA&AS, Joint Secretary, Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE), inaugurated the International Conference on Small Wind Turbine in the presence of Dr. K. Balaraman,Director General, NIWE, Jessica Rivas,Coordinator, Wind Empowerment, UK.

The main objective of the conference is the exchange of open source technical advances, share experiences and discuss global best practices to enable the technology to expand rural wind electrification globally, with a particular emphasis on India. Creating a network of wind turbine installers, will facilitate the scaling up of the technology in remote rural India with an emphasis on productive solutions. This will also leverage the localized research solutions that continues to shape and sustain this rapidly evolving sector.

The International conference will bring a wide national & international audience under one umbrella to build, learn and compare global small wind turbine know-how.The conference brings together manufacturers, producers and experts from diverse energy sectors. Over three conference days, would involve various discussions, sessions and Poster presentations that will facilitate the dissemination of best practices & experiences globally available in small wind turbine development. It is also intended to focus on sub 500 kW class wind turbine manufacturers who have done pioneering work in quality and made a niche in export market from India. The sessions will provide a valuable platform for the creation of collaborative projects between international and domestic member organizations taking on the greening the grid challenge for urban and rural habitats in complex terrains and low windy States.
