International Conference on Sustainability and Trendsetting Skill Centre inaugurated at Easwari Engineering College

First International Conference on Sustainable Environment and Civil Engineering (ICSECE’19) was inaugurated by jointly by Dr. Sukhdeo R. Karade, Sr. Principal Scientist, CSIR – CBRI, Roorkee and Dr. Flemming Jakobsen, Managing Director, DHI (Danish
Hydraulic Institute) Water & Environment Pvt Ltd.

This two day conference is the seventh edition organised organised by the Department of Civil Engineering of SRM Easwari Engineering College at their Ramapuram campus.
ICSECE 2019 is aimed to bring together leading academic scientists, researchers and research scholars to exchange and share their experience and research result on all aspects
of Sustainable Environment and Civil Engineering. It also provides a premier interdisciplinary platform for researchers, practitioners and educators to present and discuss the most recent, trends, and concerns as well as practical challenges encounter and solutions adopted in the fields of Civil Engineering for Sustainable Environment.

115 papers are being presented after thorough scrutiny by the panel of industry experts and eminent speakers from Denmark, Canada, Japan and Nepal are addressing the 500+
participants from all over the country and Kazakhstan.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Sukhdeo R. Karade highlighted civil engineer’s role in meeting the modern day challenges and appreciated SRM University for conducting the seminar on the most important and relevant theme in today’s context. Avoiding waste, reducing pollution and improving the efficiency of managing the natural resources without damaging the eco system should be key, he added.

Dr. Flemming Jakobsen in his address encouraged the engineering students to dream big and innovate to create technical wonders to fix issues and help the society. He narrated
how women engineers are playing important role and explained the need to acting together for the future of our generations.

Soon after the inaugural session of this international conference Engineering Innovation Skill Centre (EISC-EEC) established by the Department of Civil Engineering was jointly declared open by Mr. Sunil Paliwal, IAS, Principal Secretary, Department of Labour & Employment, Government of Tamil Nadu and Dr. R. Shivakumar, Chairman, SRM.Group of Institutions, Ramapuram & Trichy Campus. Several key players from the building, MEP, water supply and treatment, building materials, interior works, Environmental/ Public Health, HVAC displayed their products and service at this skill centre.

EISC-EEC will help immensely to the engineering students, ITI technicians and skilled and unskilled workforce including women to know the latest trends in engineering design,
procurement and construction. Experts from the manufacturing industry will be giving hands on training on handling the products and equipment while undertaking value engineering skill courses at this centre.
