COLORS Tamil artists walked the ramp for the 8th Chennai International Fashion Week

~ Held on 12th July, the ‘Walk for water’ initiative was organized to highlight city’s brooding water crisis~

 Chennai, 16th July, 2019:   With water shortage creating ripples in the city, the 8th Chennai International Fashion Week brought to spotlight this menacing issue faced by the citizens of Chennai. The show titled ‘Walk for Water’ organized on Friday, July 12th witnessed COLORS Tamil popular artists from Perazhagi and Thirumanam join hands with Actor Parthiban to raise awareness.     

The event conceived by US-based Indian fashion designer and social activist Sanjana Jon highlighted Tamil Nadu’s prime concern at the moment. Through its innovative concept, the show aimed at conveying a powerful message ‘Little drops of water makes a mighty ocean’. Piquing the curiosity of assembled guests, Actor Parthiban along with Perazhagi’s lead Viraat, Manjula and Thirumanam’s lead Deepak, Preeti, Brito walked the ramp with a glass of water. In the end, the water was poured into a big glass bowl to aptly express the need to save water for the generations to come.

Commenting on this show Sanjana Jon, sister of internationally acclaimed designer Anand Jon said “Currently with Chennai’s water crisis grabbing global attention, we wanted to make this our underlying concept for the show. Translating this idea to the event, we aimed at emphasizing how a drop of water saved today can turn into a lifesaver for the future. As we targeted our messaging at today’s younger generation, we brought on stage COLORS Tamil youth icons Viraat, Manjula from Perazhagi and Preeti, Deepak, Brito from Thirumanam. It was a pleasure to watch these stars walk as show stoppers with Actor Parthiban and make this event a success.”

On associating with the event, Mr. Anup Chandrasekharan, Business Head, COLORS Tamil said, “Water is the most pressing issue currently afflicting our state and we being a socially conscious channel decided to support the cause of creating awareness in whatever way possible. The event saw great participation and with the help of our popular artists hopefully we have managed to bring home the message of water conservation.”

Adding entertainment quotient, Singer and Actor Vijay Yesudas performed best Tamil tracks to enthrall the audience.
