
7050 Participants Run to Support Cancer Awareness and Early Screening
Chennai, 1st February 2026* – Chennai witnessed a strong show of community participation as thousands of runners came together for the 4th Edition of the K10K Cancer Awareness Run, organized by Kauvery Hospital. Held in the city, the annual run continues to grow as a key platform to promote awareness on cancer, the importance of early screening, and preventive health practices.
Participants from across age groups and backgrounds took part in the 5 km and 10 km categories, with representation from fitness groups, families, students, corporate teams, and seasoned runners. The enthusiastic turnout highlighted the city’s increasing engagement with cancer awareness and the need for timely health check-ups.
The 10Km flag off was done by Thiru Ma Subramanian, Minister of Health and Family Welfare , Government of Tamil Nadu and the 5Km Flag off was by Thiru Vijaykumar IPS , Joint Commissioner , Traffic South respectively.
Dr. Aravindan Selvaraj, Co-Founder and Executive Director, Kauvery Hospital, highlighted the growing public response to the initiative. “The K10K Run has grown into a city-wide movement over the last four years. The strong participation we see today reflects a shared commitment to awareness, prevention, and healthier lifestyles. We are encouraged by the response from Chennai and thank all partners, volunteers, and civic authorities who supported the smooth conduct of the event,” said Dr. Aravindan Selvaraj.
Now in its fourth year, the K10K Run has shown consistent growth in participation, reflecting its expanding reach and impact as a sustained cancer awareness initiative. The 4th edition had a strong turnout of more than 7000 participants, showing the growing community effort to cancer awareness, early screening, and preventive health.
The event also acknowledged winners across multiple age and gender categories in the 10 km run, while welcoming first-time runners and casual participants in the 5 km category.
