● Prioritising structured diagnosis and pattern-based evaluation before intervention
● Strengthening BirthRight’s 360° maternal and child care ecosystem under one roof
Chennai, March 5, 2026 : After four consecutive miscarriages, a 35-year-old woman in Chennai recently delivered a healthy baby following structured evaluation and closely monitored care. Doctor says her case reflects a larger concern, as many women undergo repeated miscarriages without detailed investigation, highlighting the need for a comprehensive approach. With recurrent pregnancy loss affecting nearly 2–3% of pregnancies, particularly among women in their 20s and 30s, Birthright by Rainbow Hospitals has launched Vannam Clinic in Guindy, Chennai’s first gynecology-led Recurrent Pregnancy Loss (RPL) and Pregnancy Failure Clinic.
Recurrent pregnancy loss, defined as two or more consecutive miscarriages, which can result from genetic factors, uterine structural concerns, cervical weakness, clotting disorders, hormonal imbalances, or metabolic conditions. Several women in their 30s approached the hospital after multiple miscarriages. They needed systematic evaluation and focused genetic counseling support, and coordinated specialist care to improve pregnancy success rates. Vannam Clinic addresses this gap by bringing together obstetric, genetic, fetal medicine, neonatal and pediatric metabolic expertise under one roof to ensure accurate diagnosis and individualized treatment planning.
With the launch of Vannam Clinic, BirthRight by Rainbow Hospitals reinforces its vision of providing complete 360-degree maternal care. Women from across regions can access comprehensive services in one place, from pre-pregnancy evaluation and gynecological care to high-risk obstetrics, fetal medicine, delivery, neonatal support, and multispecialty pediatric care at Rainbow Children’s Hospital. BirthRight’s aim is to create greater awareness about early screening, encouraging young mothers to seek evaluation even after a pregnancy failure thereby improving pregnancy success rates through timely intervention and continuous obstetric care within a unified system.
“Recurrent pregnancy loss requires careful clinical evaluation and structured assessment. Identifying the timing and pattern of previous losses, along with a thorough review of medical history, is critical to determining the underlying cause. Not all cases require fertility intervention; many can be managed effectively through targeted diagnosis and personalized care. Conditions related to genetics, uterine factors, blood-related disorders, or maternal health issues must be systematically evaluated before deciding the course of treatment. A dedicated clinic allows us to provide focused consultation, multidisciplinary input, continuous monitoring and empathetic patient centered approach. With early identification and appropriate management, a significant number of women with prior pregnancy losses can achieve successful outcomes,” said Dr. Mathangi Rajagopalan, Senior Obstetric Consultant at Rainbow Children’s Hospital, Chennai, who was instrumental in starting this clinic.
Adding to this, Dr. Priyadharshini S M, Senior Consultant – Obstetrics And Gynecology, Rainbow Children’s Hospital said “As pregnancy patterns evolve, it is important to move from reactive treatment to proactive evaluation. At BirthRight, our strength lies in offering comprehensive maternal care from pre-pregnancy counseling to delivery and advanced neonatal support. Vannam Clinic strengthens this framework by ensuring that recurrent pregnancy loss is evaluated thoroughly before considering fertility interventions. Every patient’s clinical history is unique, and personalized, tailor-made care plans are essential to improving outcomes and supporting successful pregnancies.”
The clinic was inaugurated by *actress Saranya Ponvannan* in the presence of the team of doctors from Birthright by Rainbow Hospitals, including Dr. Mathangi Rajagopalan, Senior Consultant – Obstetrics and Gynecology; Dr. Priyadharshini S M, Senior Consultant – Obstetrics and Gynecology; Dr. Lucetta Amelia Dias, Consultant – Obstetrics and Gynecology; and Dr. Padma Priya, Consultant – Obstetrics and Gynecology, along with Mr. Bhaskar Reddy, Zonal Director, and Mr. Gunasekhar Chowdary, Facility Director, Rainbow Children’s Hospital.
Addressing the gathering, Ms. Saranya Ponvannan said, “Motherhood is deeply emotional, and repeated pregnancy loss can be devastating for families. Initiatives like Vannam Clinic provide women not just medical care, but hope and reassurance that they are not alone in this journey.”
