Freedom from Cancer Relief and Research Foundation Associate with Saveetha Medical College and Hospital organized Motorcycle rally to create awareness on Childhood Cancer
Chennai 15 February 2020: Over 100 motorists participated in a bike rally held to create awareness on World Childhood cancer. On account of World Childhood Cancer day on 15th Feb of every year, rally was organised by Freedom from Cancer Relief and Research Foundation along with Saveetha Medical College and Hospital. Chief Guest: Mrs Lion Geetha Madhu Mohan, Principal, Dr MGR School.
Enthusiastic women and men bikers, bearing cancer awareness placards, participated in the rally from Sholinganallur to Navalur Junction. funds raised from the bike rally, would go towards procuring medication for cancer patients. happy wheels The rally is a pre-event for the annual Conquer 2020 event to be held on August 15.
Dr. Anitha Ramesh, founder and CEO, Freedom from Cancer Relief and Research Foundation Association, who inaugurated the rally, said Each year, more than 300,000 children ages birth to 19 years are diagnosed with cancer around the world. Approximately 8 in 10 of these children live in low and middle-income countries where their survival rate is often near 20%.The Target Goal of the WHO Global Childhood Cancer Initiative is to eliminate all pain and suffering of children fighting cancer and achieve at least 60% survival for all children diagnosed with cancer around the world by 2030.This represents an approximate doubling of the current cure rate and will save an additional one million children’s lives over the next decade.
