India’s Largest Food Processing Industry Expo “Foodpro 2019” to Kickstart in Chennai

Chennai, 22 August 2019:  Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) is organizing Foodpro – India’s biennial event on Food Processing, Packaging & Food Technology – the 13th edition from 23rd -25th August 2019 at Chennai Trade Centre, Nandambakkam, Chennai. The Government of Tamil Nadu is the Host State and Government of Kerala is the Partner State for Foodpro 2019.

Thiru Banwarilal Purohit, Hon’ble Governor of Tamil Nadu has kindly consented to be the Chief Guest and inaugurate Foodpro 2019 on  23rd August 2019 at Chennai Trade Centre, Nandambakkam, Chennai. 

Shri. Rameswar Teli, Hon’ble Minister of State for Food Processing Industries, Government of India; Mr R Doraikkannu, Hon’ble Minister for Agriculture, Government of Tamil Nadu and Mr R Kamaraj, Hon’ble Minister for Food and Civil Supplies, Government of Tamil Nadu will be the Guest of Honours  and address the Inaugural Session of Foodpro 2019.

With the presence of over 300 domestic and international exhibitors, Foodpro 2019 will provide an important platform for all stakeholders to showcase the latest technology in Food Processing, Packaging, Cold Storage, Warehousing, Food & Agriculture, Logistics and related products. Foodpro will have overseas participation from countries like Germany, Italy, Malaysia, Netherlands, Spain, Turkey, UAE & USA.

The Second edition of ColdStoRe India and T-Food would be held concurrently during the Foodpro 2019.

ColdStoRe will focus on the complete cold chain right from primary cold storage facility for food grains and fruits at Farm Level to high end cold storage for meat and food products including the important sector of Cold / Refrigerated Transportation.

T-Food, a traditional food festival will aim to bring the awareness about the traditional and local foods, especially millets.  The show will present newer recipes of cooking traditional foods and will provide an opportunity to entrepreneurs to showcase the developments in processing of Traditional Food.  The festival would also encourage farmers to grow more traditional crops to enable them to enhance profits.

Speaking about Foodpro 2019, Mr Sanjay Jayavarthanavelu, Chairman, CII Southern Region said, “Make in India initiative has immensely boosted the prospects for the Indian food processing and beverages industry. It has opened up a plethora of unique opportunities for entrepreneurs and businessmen, including foreign investors, to foray into the lucrative Indian food processing sector which is poised to witness more than double digit growth in the near future”. He further added “Foodpro has emerged as a strong networking platform for the people involved in the food processing industry”.

Mr Navas Meeran, Chairman, Foodpro 2019 said, India is the second largest producer of food and agri-commodities in the world, there by playing a vital role in the global food processing Industry. India’s USD 600 billion food processing industry is expected to grow three fold by 2020. The Food sector continues to rely heavily on modern food processing and storage technologies to overcome on the challenges and food wastage which is crucial for overall development of the Indian Food sector.

Display of products at the exhibition would include; Food Processing Technology & Machinery; Retailing & Vending Systems; Hotel & Kitchen Equipment; Health / Wellness  Products; Bakery Equipment, Machinery & Technology;  Ingredients, Fragrances & Flavours; Packaging Machinery & Technology; Refrigeration & Cold Chain System;  Processed & Packaged Foods, Dairy & Milk Processing Technology;Refrigerated Transportation Solutions; Ready to Eat Foods, Snack Foods Segments, Traditional Food Items including Millets.

Exhibitors are given opportunity to launch their product/ services to their clients & visitors through a dedicated “Product Launches and Live Demonstrations” at the venue.

Coinciding with Foodpro 2019, CII will be organising Sectoral Conferences on Emerging Technologies in Food Processing Sector; Dairy Technologies and  Traditional Foods.

Around 300 senior personnel representing CEO’s, Industry leaders & senior executives of leading manufacturers of processed & packaged foods, technology providers, Post-harvest Technology, Processing equipment manufacturers, Producer companies, food safety solutions provider, Exporters, Retail chains and Government agencies would be participating  at this conference.
