~ A unique initiative to educate and encourage hygiene habits among students and faculty ~
24 November 2019, Chennai: Casa Grande PropCare today celebrated the World Toilet Day through a unique initiative specially crafted to promote hygiene awareness among students and faculty of Thiruvanmiyur Government school. This one of its kind attempt by a facility management firm aims to actively involve students to help maintain the sanitation and overall hygiene of a premises, thereby teaching them young and teaching them right. Volunteers from Casa Grande PropCare visited the school and conducted an awareness workshop on proper hygiene and healthy habits. The team of volunteers also undertook a massive cleanup of the school and restrooms.
Hosting a day long program at Thiruvanmiyur Government School, Casa Grande PropCare volunteers conducted various programs that saw the active participation of both students and faculty. The PropCare team held a session on personal and civil public hygiene and encouraged students to adopt habits that promote better cleanliness. The team undertook the cleaning of all 14 washrooms at the school and educated students on proper toilet etiquette, the correct way to wash hands, awareness for girls on the proper use and disposal of sanitary pads and much more. For students between 6th STD and 8th STD, a unique painting competition was conducted on the theme of “Personal Hygiene = Washroom Hygiene”. All participants were gifted with hand wash kits.
The one-day event saw the active participation 150+ student representatives from classes 6 to 8. These representatives were trained to become hygiene ambassadors for the rest of the school of 5000+ students. Students were educated on the importance of maintaining hygiene at school and home. Commemorating the program, saplings were planted at various spots around the school by Mrs. Sivagami, the Head Mistress of the school, students and Casa Grande PropCare volunteers.
Commenting on the initiative, Mr. Venkatraman – Senior Executive Vice President, Casa Grande Propcare said, “We are happy to conduct the hygiene awareness drive at the Thiruvanmiyur Government School today. Proper hygiene is a habit that people inculcate at a young age but the habit stays with them for the rest of their lives. We decided to hold a hygiene awareness drive at the schoolto reach out directly to these young minds and teach them the correct hygiene habits to follow. With proper guidance, these children will continue to maintain a clean and healthy environment all their lives.
